Defining Charge Types

"Charge Types" are the categories of charges that sites utilize in assessing charges to a staff or student account when an asset has been damaged and/or before an item is issued as a prerequisite for that item's issuance. The following are true of charges:

  • Charges are established by the district-level administrative user, and this user determines whether the site can adjust the dollar amount required to satisfy a charge.
  • All charges require the selection of an established Charge Type (e.g., “Charger Replacement,” “Cracked Screen,” and “Accidental Damage Coverage").

Add a Charge Type

  1. Click on Charge Types under "Management Quick Links." The "Manage Charge Types" window opens.
  2. Click on add.png Add Record.
  3. Enter the Name, Description, and/or Amount in the respective fields. Red fields are required.
  4. Select/deselect the check box next to Show Percentages, Allow Price Change, and Tag Required to enable/disable those features.
  5. Click on save.png Save.
  6. Click on x.png Close to close the "Manage Charge Types" window.
Optional Settings  
Show Inactive When enabled, only charges set to "Inactive" display on the grid.
Show Percentages When selected, each time a charge type is assessed, four suggested percentages display based in the suggested price of the respective item. The four percentages are 100%, 75%, 50%, and 25%.
Allow Price Change When selected, allows the site user to increase/decrease the Charge Type's default charge amount.
Tag Required When selected, requires the site user to identify tag with which to assess the charge.
An inactive Charge Type will not display as a Charge Type option in the site view.

Edit a Charge Type

  1. Click on Charge Types under "Management Quick Links." The "Manage Funding Sources" window opens.
  2. Locate the Charge Type.

If the charge type is not visible on the grid, search for the funding source using the search window located below the blue grid header under Charge Type. You can search by Name or Charge Amount.

  1. Click on edit.png Edit, located next to the Charge Type’s name. The grid expands.
  2. Edit the Charge Type details. Red fields are required information.
  3. Click on save.png Update.
  4. Click on x.png Close to close the "Manage Charge Types" window.

Delete a Charge Type

  1. Click on Charge Types under "Management Quick Links." The "Manage Manufacturers" window opens.
  2. Locate the Charge Type.

If the Charge Type is not visible on the grid, search for the funding source using the search window located below the blue grid header under Charge Type. You can search by Name or Charge Amount.

  3. Click on x.png Close to close the "Manage Charge Types" window.
