This article provides a beginning-of-year checklist for Asset Management to help K–12 district administrators and IT staff prepare devices and assets for student use. It outlines essential steps such as verifying SIS and HR data imports, uploading and assigning assets, updating the mobile app, and provisioning integrations such as Google G-Suite or JAMF. Following this guidance supports accurate asset tracking, efficient device distribution, and a smooth start to the school year.
1. Ensure Nightly SIS/Student and Teacher Records are Importing
- Confirm that your nightly Student Information System (SIS) and HR data imports are processing successfully.
- If you are switching to a new SIS, contact Frontline Support today.
- If your district’s public IP or IP range has changed, automated imports may be blocked. Notify ihdmsupport@frontlineed.com to update your IP information.
- Find more helpful information in the Asset Management Learning Center.
2. Upload and Assign New Assets
- Upload into the system devices acquired during the summer.
- Assign each asset to the appropriate campus and room/staff/student.
- Link assets to vendors and funding sources.
3. Install or Update the Mobile App
- Ensure you have the latest version of the Inventory & Help Desk Management mobile app on iOS or Android.
- Features include barcode scanning, issuing and collecting devices, audits, and site transfers.
- Check for updates in the App Store or on Google Play.
4. Provision Google G-Suite and/or JAMF (if applicable)
- Set up OAuth credentials, privileges, and Admin SDK access to link G-Suite/JAMF device data.
