This article explains how to configure the Socket mobile s700 Bluetooth (S700) scanner when switching between Application Mode and Basic Mode in both iOS and Android devices.
- If the scanner is currently paired with your mobile device, go through the steps to forget the scanner in your device's Bluetooth settings.
- Before scanning any command barcode, ensure the scanner is not currently connected to a host computer or device.
- Consult the booklet with the S700 scanner or visit the Socket Scanner website to view the booklet online.
iOS
Application Mode
Utilizing your S700 scanner, scan the barcode below.
Search for the "Socket Mobile Companion" app in the Apple app store and install it on your device, or scan the QR code below.
Open the app and follow the onscreen steps to setup the app. The scanner is now in Application Mode and can be used within Apple iOS apps.
After setup is complete, download the Asset Management with RFID app (search for "TIPWeb-IT with RFID"). Refer to the training manual to use the scanner.
Basic Mode
When you configure the scanner to Basic Mode, it will be discoverable as a keyboard to Bluetooth host devices. The scanner will work with Notes, Excel, and any other application that supports an active cursor.
First, complete the steps to forget the scanner in the device's Bluetooth settings and ensure the scanner is not currently connected to a host computer or device.
Then, scan the Basic Mode barcode below.
The scanner is now in Basic Mode. Connect the scanner to any computer with Bluetooth capability. Open the computer's Bluetooth settings and select "Socket" followed by the serial number.
Navigate to your district's Asset Management website. The scanner will scan into all appropriate windows with an active cursor.
Android
Application Mode
